Care and Treatment of Your Sculpture

Some Notes About Care and Treatment of Your Sculpture
with a Brushed or Polished Finish

Like silverware, the metal pieces may need to be cleaned with metal cleaner periodically. I have had good success with the following products (available online). Other brands may react unfavorably with the metals.

FOR CLEANING OF PERSISTANT TARNISHED MARKS:               USE SIMICHROME POLISH

FOR PRESERVING THE FINISH AND GENERAL CLEANING:              USE WIZARD'S POWER SEAL

Apply sparingly with a soft clean cloth! Do not allow clumps or puddles of polish to remain on the pieces for very long as the chemicals are reactive; always wipe in the direction of existing lines in the metal (if brushed finish). The brushed sculptures can also be rewaxed as described below.

DO NOT USE THESE PRODUCTS ON PATINA'D SCULPTURES.
THEY WILL DAMAGE THE FINISH (coloration).

After application, please take the sculpture apart (if you haven't already) and remove any cleaner that has gotten into the cracks. Reassemble the pieces exactly as they were taken apart.

This is precision metalwork. Do not allow sculpture pieces to drop on the floor as this will cause permanent damage.

Store and display in a dry area. Standing water will cause the sculpture to tarnish/rust. If the puzzle gets wet, Immediately take it apart and dry the pieces off!

Depending on how much you handle the pieces, you can clean and wax the sculpture with pure carnauba wax (a liquid car wax), let dry and buff clean with a soft cloth. This protects the sliding surfaces.

Always take the unit apart on a clean dry surface. Any dirt can cause the surfaces to mar or scratch. Do not force the pieces together as this will cause the surfaces to scratch. Some marks from assembly and disassembly are unavoidable.

Make sure you have enough space so the pieces don't bang against each other. Dents are very hard or impossible to fix. For information about restoring pieces or the entire puzzle to brand new condition, contact me.
